StudioPress Switches to ShareASale

StudioPress Premium WordPress ThemesStudioPress, developers of premium WordPress themes, announced today they are changing their affiliate program network. They are moving from e-junkie to ShareASale and the deadline for current affiliates to change their links is the end of September.

Why Switch

There were several reasons for this change, but the bottom line is to provide expanded services to their affiliates. ShareASale has more tracking options so affiliates can get more detailed reports. This is vital to make adjustments on promotion campaigns to determine effectiveness. Affiliates are also now eligible for 2nd tier commissions if someone joins ShareASale through their link.

Banners

All of the banners are now hosted by ShareASale, which means affiliates no longer have to host the images themselves. This means that updates to the banners will occur automatically and affiliates will not have to remember to visit the StudioPress site to download the latest image. Unless an affiliate has a ton of banners, this shouldn’t have any impact to site load, but every little bit helps. There are plenty of banners to choose from for any number of sidebar widgets or header banners.

The Best Value

Unless a buyer is absolutely sure they’ll only have one site and have fallen in love with one theme, the StudioPress Pro-Plus All Theme Package is really the best option. This gives you access to ALL themes, both current and future at the one-time investment of $249.95. There are currently almost 30 themes to experiment with and the Pro-Plus members receive first beta access to upcoming themes and plugins. This is one of the few premium theme developers who do not charge an annual fee and have kept their prices accessible. It’s best to lock in this deal because at some point they will simply have to raise prices – no business can continue to offer more and more and more without increasing fees. As always, you can not purchase through your own affiliate link to buy themes as if getting a “discount”.

Go to StudioPress to change your links or join their affiliate program.

Meet The Challenge

The Challenge

For those of you in internet marketing land who are unaware of Ed Dale and The Challenge, do yourself a favor and get familiar with them quickly. The Challenge is the new name for a free online marketing course that in the past was known as The Thirty Day Challenge, or 30dc for short.

What is The Challenge?

The Challenge is beginner online marketing training that, in 2010, evolved into a 7-week course spread out over manageable chunks of time, and even includes built-in time to catch up or to rest. Seriously, they are doing everything they can think of to get people to take consistent action by breaking it down into small steps. That in and of itself is an incredible lesson when you stop to look at their method. Whenever a project seems daunting and too overwhelming to even begin, break it down into bite-sized chunks and attack it one step at a time.

The Key

So what is the point of all this training? Is it to make people millions of dollars and become marketing geniuses? No. The whole point is to learn how to find a market online that has potential to earn money by TESTING it.

Yes, during this internet marketing program, you’ll find ideas for markets to test. You’ll learn how to narrow your market focus down into niches and micro-niches in such a way that you give yourself a chance for searchers to find you in Google. Then you’ll get an actual website up and running with the intention of getting enough visitors to see if they are willing to spend even a little bit of money.

The trick here is to remind yourself over and over again that this is a test. It is not your dream website, so do not move in and get too attached. If during this testing it turns out that traffic and conversion do not meet certain criteria, then Ed will present plan B on what to do with your site. Hint, it does not involve keeping it and slaving away on it.

Hey, It Worked

What if the test is a success? Well, I guess that involves another online marketing course, For now, set yourself up to develop a real online business and just follow the steps.

WordPress 3.0 RC3

WordPress is now up to Release Candidate 3 on the road to 3.0. Currently we’re testing the 2010 theme that now becomes the default theme with 3.0.

The 2010 WP Theme is extremely usable right out of box. The header is easy to customize by selecting one of the preset pictures, or by uploading your own. Backgrounds are customized by either choosing a new color with the built-in color picker, or uploading a tiled picture as a wallpaper.

But that’s just the beginning of the what’s new to come. Stay tuned for custom posts and taxonomies for more CMS goodness.

Work in process

This new site is still under construction. Rather than just leave it sit though, we’re checking out the new Genesis WordPress framework from StudioPress. Currently we’re testing the Executive child theme. At some point, we’ll take some screen shots and add them to this post to track some of our changes.

First impressions of the theme are good. The first update to Genesis has already been released so we get to test the ability to quickly update the theme seamlessly. We’re anxious to see more child themes released as there are only 3 to choose from now. We are planning to do many articles on StudioPress themes in the future since these themes are just too cool.

Work in process Post Edit

Edit Post Mode

Added little tip: Notice the permalink, which in this post’s URL includes “hello-world” at the end? Yet the title of the article is “Work in process”, and so they don’t match. WordPress give you complete control over over your URL structure by allowing you to change the title without changing the URL unless you really really mean to. So using this post as an example, I edited the default post that downloads with the WordPress installation. But I didn’t change the Permalink, which appears in grey just below the title in the post’s edit mode. Be very careful when changing this permalink, because if your article has already been indexed, then it will result in a broken link and lead to a 404 error.
